چکیده

1 The Approximate Solution Curve Tracing (ASCT) Method 1.1 The correct solution space (CSS) Figure 1: The CSS represents the correct solution .space which all of the depth values on the illuminated object are included in. LB is the lower bound of the CSS. All of the depth values on the illuminated object will be not "deeper" than it. UB is the upper boumt of the CSS. All of the depth values on the illuminated object are always "deeper" than it. Before recovering the depth map of the ilhmtinated object: we can assume that there exists a range to include all of the depth values of the points on the surface, a~s shown in Figure 1. 1.2 The approximate solution difference (ASD) Now suppose we have two images I1, Is, the corresponding point light sources are (S~I,Syl,S~) and (S~> Sy2. S~2), the illuminated point is (x, y, z), and the normal vector is (p, q,-1). Then, Ii(x,y) = k. (S~1-x)p+(Su~-y)q-(S~-z) h(*, y) = k (&~-z)p + (s~-y)q-(&~-=) Substitute a value in the CSS, called z~,,, for the unknown variable z in the denominator of both equations and divide Equation (1) by Equation (2). After simplifying the coefficients, a linear equation (Equation (3)) with three unknowns is obtained. These unknown values are p, q, and z. s,-[(&~-x) ~ + (s~l-v) ~ + (&l-z~,,)2] ~ h " [(&2-X) ~ + (Sy2-y)2 + (&2-z.s)2] ~ zr = a value in the CSS

Near Light Correction for Image Relighting and 3D Shape Recovery

In this paper, we propose a near-light illumination model for image relighting and 3D shape recovery. Classic methods such as used by the popular RTI software from Cultural Heritage Imaging assume that lighting is infinitely far away from the scene. However, this constraint is impossible to achieve in practice: light sources cannot be too far away from the scene due to space and power constrain...

Shape-from-Shading under Near Point Lighting and Partial views for Orthopedic Endoscopy

Bone reconstruction using endoscopy is important for computer aided minimally invasive orthopedic surgery. During surgery an endoscope consisting of a camera and one or more light sources is inserted through a small incision into the body and the acquired images are analyzed. Since bone surface is featureless, shading is the primary cue for shape perception. However, due to the small field of v...

One-Shot Approximate Local Shading

In most rendering systems, area light sources are decomposed into many point light sources, which requires heavy computation to produce realistic results. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to approximate an area light source with a point light source for each component of the shading model. The position and intensity of the point light source is dependent on the position and orientatio...

3D Reconstruction of Anatomical Structures from Endoscopic Images

Endoscopy is attracting increasing attention for its role in minimally invasive, computer-assisted and tele-surgery. Analyzing images from endoscopes to obtain meaningful information about anatomical structures such as their 3D shapes, deformations and appearances, is crucial to such surgical applications. However, 3D reconstruction of bones from endoscopic images is challenging due to the smal...

Near Field Photometric Stereo with Point Light Sources

Shape recovery of an object based on shading variations resulting from different light sources has recently been reconsidered. Improvements have been made that allow for the photometric stereo approach to serve as a competitive alternative to other shape reconstruction methods. However, most photometric stereo methods tend to ignore factors that are relevant in practical applications. The setup...

A Review of Selected Multiple Light Source Detection Methods

1 Hougen and Ahuja This 1993 paper [2] is the first method to approach the multiple light source problem. It uses a combination of stereo, light source estimation, and shape from shading methods for determining the shape of objects. This summary will focus on the proposed light source estimation technique and it’s integration in the system. Four main assumptions are stated: 1. The light sources...
